The greatest fight song ever written, pure and simple. Yet today it seems a lot of Michigan sports fans have forgotten the line “The Leaders and The Best.” This line begs some questions that need to be answered. Firstly what does it mean to be a leader? Imhe being a leader means doing things the right way, no matter what the cost. Michigan has, up until recently, done things the right way. Then they spent too much time stretching and were nailed for it. Were they wrong? Yes of course they were wrong. They broke the rules and now are suffering the effects of self imposed sanctions.

Where am I going with this? As a frequent visitor to the MGoBlog Message Board I have seen a rash of stupidity over take the board these last couple of months. Here is an example. This kind of rampant stupidity is unacceptable. Lloyd Carr is a great man, was a great football corch, and remains an outstanding human being. Why does Rich Rodriguez need Lloyd’s support? RR has the undying support of ten million rampant fans. Its time to let Lloyd be, let the man retire in peace.

Now to be the best, a couple of things need to happen. First of all we need to, you know, actually win some football games. We must continue to recruit well, and we need to put a beat down on a couple of our rivals. If we do these things, being the best once again isn’t far off.

So remember, while it is okay to screw around and make fartbutt jokes, there is a proverbial line that we shouldn’t ever cross. Not when our Universities fight song contains the line “The Leaders and Best.”/end rant.
